Midsummer Musings

After an intense start to summer, July arrives with long, light-filled days and an invitation to slow down. The recent heatwave has encouraged many of us to seek shade, rest more deeply, and pay closer attention to the rhythms of our bodies. While we can celebrate the warmth and abundance of the season, these extremes also serve as a reminder of nature’s immense power and the growing impact of a changing climate. Perhaps there is wisdom in this – a call not only to care for ourselves, but also to deepen our respect for the natural world and the urgent need to live more consciously within it.In a culture that often encourages us to see ourselves as separate from nature, moments like these remind us that we are not apart from it – we are part of it. The same forces that shape the seasons, the tides, and the weather also move through us. Nature seems to be teaching the same lesson: growth isn’t always about doing more; sometimes it’s about pausing, absorbing, listening, and simply being.

This is a month of abundance. Gardens are flourishing, hedgerows are bursting with life, and the energy of midsummer is still all around us. Yet beneath the outward fullness, there is also a subtle shift taking place. As the days gradually begin to shorten after the Summer Solstice, July invites us to savour the present moment while gently reflecting on what we wish to nurture during the second half of the year.

Astrologically, July carries themes of emotional awareness, connection, and inner alignment. With Cancer season encouraging us to come home to ourselves and our loved ones, followed by the bold, heart-centred energy of Leo later in the month, we’re invited to balance nourishment with self-expression. It’s a wonderful time to listen inwardly, honour what truly matters, and allow your authentic voice to be heard.
I’ll be taking a break over the summer holidays, so there will be no regular sessions or newsletters during August. I look forward to returning in September with renewed energy and fresh offerings to share.Until then, I wish you all a joyful summer filled with sunshine, rest, adventure, magic and wonder.

July Affirmation:
I am nourished by the light around me and grounded by the peace within me.
June Gratitude

June has been a month woven with variety, connection, and celebration. From beach trips and sports days to sundials and music-filled barns, and educational workshops at Hellens Manor exploring the land and the turning of the seasons with students from Riverside Primary, I’ve been reminded of the many beautiful ways we can connect with each other and with the living world around us.I’ve also had the pleasure of sharing beautiful sound bath sessions with the Malvern Circle Group, Oxygen Wellness Centre, and Yoga Sanctuary, each gathering bringing its own unique energy and magic.

A particular highlight was stepping in for the wonderful Cecilia of C-Sound Space for her Summer Solstice session. Not only did she entrust me with holding her regular community, but also with playing her magnificent Earth Gong. It was a humid, powerful, eventful and deep evening.

These days, I tend to keep my summer festival appearances to a minimum, but I’m delighted to be returning to Shambala Festival this August, offering sound baths alongside my wonderful sound sister, Aya Zebrowska. Find us in the Healing Field, come and say hello, lie back, and join us for a tranquil moment of rest, reset, and reconnection amidst the vibrant energy of the festival. 🌿🎶
