HISTORY & THEORY

Sound Healing is based on the science that all matter is vibrating at specific frequencies and that sound, or vibration, has a strong impact upon substance.

“In the beginning was the word…”

In ancient times and across all cultures, there is evidence of the use of sound to heal. In every cosmology and mythology, sound is the major link, the carrier wave perhaps, between the world of the spirits and the people of earth.

Sound Healing is based on the science that all matter is vibrating at specific frequencies and that sound, or vibration, has a strong impact upon substance.

The human body seeks harmony. If we accept that sound is vibration, and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is ‘heard’ not only through our ears but through every cell in our body. The human body is ninety percent water – the perfect medium for carrying sound.

When we are in a state of wellbeing or “sound health”, we can say that the body is emitting an overall harmonic of health. However, when there is a frequency in our body that is counter to our health, it creates disharmony which often results in dis-ease. Using an externally created sound, coupled with clear, focused intention, it is possible to project a “healing” sound into the body, reminding the body of its natural resonant frequency, thereby restoring the blueprint for perfect health again.

Much like our ancient sound healers, BAST Sound Therapy is based on the idea that our bodies contain ‘energy frequencies’ and that sonic frequencies can be used to re-attune these energies when they go off key. Using quartz singing bowls, vocal toning and overtoning, Himalayan singing bowls, drums, bells, tuning forks, and more, the practitioner helps the client to come to a more balanced state in their energy frequencies.
